DESCRIBTION:  Elephants are gathered and seeking peace with humanity. In front of them lying dead is the elephant. One on top of the elephant are vultures. One vulture carrying an elephant task. Far side is the rainbow, representing the cry for peace in the elephant world, on the other side is a bird sited on a tree watching silently.

TITLE:  THE LEGEND OF NYAMI-NYAMI
DESCRIBTION:  Nyami-Nyami is a legendary creature believed in by the Tonga people. It is a dragon like creature with a snake’s body and the head of a fish. Nyami-Nyamii-Nyami is said to reside in Zambezi River and controls the life in and -on the river. Nyami-Nyami and his wife used to reside in the Kariba George as god and goodness of the under World. During the building of the Kariba Dam. It is believed that he become separated with his wife by the wall built across the river. Therefore, he become angry and fled into the Victoria Falls. His anger resulted in unusual disasters of flooding which resulted in deaths of workers during construction of the dam. The Tonga elders had to assist by offering a sacrifice to appease the wrath of Nyami-Nyami. Today everyone who does banji-jumping , kayaking, rafting and other water activities is advice to wear a Nyami-Nyami carving on the neck for good luck. The Tonga believe that he will break the dam wall one day and reunite with his wife.

TITLE:  THE HONEY BADGER AND THE HONEYGUIDE
DESCRIBTION:  The Honey badger is a fearless little animal found throughout most of Africa. One of the most well know about this animal is its relationship with a small bird called the honeyguide. It is believed that the bird, which likes beeswax and bee larvae, needs the badger to help open bee hives. So it gets the attention of the honey badger by making twittering noises and flying from tree to tree to guide it to a bee hive. Since the honey badger also likes the products of bee hives, it willing follows. When the hive is reached, the bird patiently waits for the honey badger to break open the hive. The badger feeds on the honey and bee larvae and then leaves some for the bird which then flies in and feeds on the remaining larvae and beeswax. The myth goes on to say that if the badger does not leave any food for the bird, the next time it may gets its revenge by leading the badger to a lion or a snake.

DESCRIBTION:  The initiation of girls has different names in different tribes. In Bemba it is called GHISUNGU, SIKENGE in Lozi, CHINAMWALI in Chewa, NKALOLU in Tonga. LITUNGU in Luvale, KISUNGU in Kaonde and KUTEMBWISHA KU NKUNKA in Lunda. The girl is secluded and confined in an initiation hut for a period of about three months. During this period elderly women instruct and coach the initiate in all her feminine and social duties.
